O Evangelho da Cruz formed in Itabirito, Minas Gerais, with Anderson Farias on vocals, Marcos Antônio on guitar, Felipe Farias on bass, and Alex Mendes on drums. They played Christian rock with metal and Brazilian rhythmic touches, releasing albums like Temor do Senhor in 2003 and O Sangue do Cordeiro in 2004.
Their song Temor do Senhor became widely known in Brazilian churches. Other tracks like Com a Mesma Doçura de Cristo and Descanso Divino carried straightforward messages about faith and redemption.
Some listeners questioned their use of metal elements in worship music, but the group kept playing in that style. They put out several albums through 2007, including Livre, Nosso Deus é Fiel, and Milagre.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
