007 Metal Man came out of Los Angeles in the early 1980s. The band had a frontman who went by Metal Man, with other members using stage names like Thunderbolt on guitar, Earthquake on bass, and Hurricane on drums. Their debut album was called 'In My Five' and came out in 1985, with the title track becoming their most recognizable song.
That first album established their sound with heavy riffs and pounding drums. The lyrics dealt with themes like rebellion and violence, which drew attention from censors and religious groups.
Despite the pushback, they developed a following among underground metal fans. Their live shows were known for intense stage theatrics. They kept releasing albums through the 1990s and 2000s, with titles like 'Blood for Blood,' 'Hell on Earth,' and 'Satan's Playground.' The lineup changed at times, but the basic approach stayed consistent.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
