The Italian rock band 012 formed in 1990 with guitarist Andrea Braido, vocalist Gabriele Gabra, bassist Marco Trentacoste, and drummer Andrea Matteuzzi. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1994, but it was their 1996 follow-up 'These Are the Times' that gave them their biggest moment. The title track became something of an anthem for them, with its melodic rock sound and what fans heard as poignant lyrics.
In the early 2000s, lead singer Gabriele Gabra left the band to work on solo material. They brought in a new vocalist, Marco Morandi, and kept recording. Their discography includes albums like 'Big!' from 1998, 'Apocalypse' from 2001, and 'Reset' from 2004. They also had a dispute with their record label over an unauthorized compilation release, which led to some legal issues.
They continued putting out albums through the 2000s, including 'Echoes' in 2006, '12' in 2008, 'Twice' in 2010, and 'X' in 2012. The band's sound shifted some over those years, moving between different rock textures and production styles.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
