02deAbril formed in São Paulo in 1980 with Nando Reis on vocals and guitar, Samuel Reoli on bass, and Walter Villaça on drums. Their debut album 'A Máscara' came out in 1986, and its title track became one of their best-known songs. They later released albums like 'Gil' in 1993 and '10,000 Dias' in 1995.
Their music mixed rock and reggae with Brazilian folk elements, and their lyrics often touched on social themes. They worked with artists including Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso. Another song people remember is 'Outra Vez'.
After 'A Máscara,' they put out records through the 1990s and into the 2000s, like 'Onde Você Mora?' in 1999 and 'Mutante' in 2002. They kept playing and recording, with albums appearing in 2006, 2011, and 2016.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
