07 Ghost formed in Tokyo around 2000, with vocalist Toru Kawakubo and guitarist Mizuki at the start. Their early material leaned into heavy metal with aggressive guitar work and lyrics that often touched on isolation. The band's lineup eventually included bassist Takanori Niikura and drummer Atsushi Kurota.
They released albums like '07 Ghosts' in 2001 and 'Raggs' in 2004. The song 'Raggs no Chinkonka' from that period became their most recognizable track, with a haunting melody that connected with listeners. Other songs like 'Aka No Kakera' and 'Hitomi no Kotae' also appeared in their catalog, sometimes in both full and TV-size versions.
By 2011 they had put out 'Catharsis', showing a continued output over more than a decade. The band maintained a presence in Japanese rock, known for blending heavy riffs with melodic and sometimes introspective elements.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
