Critics called the group's lyrics misogynistic and accused them of glorifying violence. They defended their work as reflecting the realities of their community.

Legal troubles followed some members. Kilo Ali was convicted of murder in 1995 and received a life sentence. South Park Mexican and Big Mike faced drug-related charges. The group kept releasing music through the late 1990s, including albums like "The People vs. 1-800-DIS-N-DAT" and "The Last Disciple."
