1 Segundo Es Demasiado formed in Mexico City in 1992 with Juan Pablo Garza on vocals and guitar, Carlos Soto on bass, and Miguel "Mikey" Baizabal on drums. They released their debut album in 1996, which included the title track "1 Segundo Es Demasiado." That song became something of an anthem for them, along with others like "Cadenas" and "Caminar."
They put out several more albums over the next decade, including Niños Santos in 1998, Fantasmas in 2000, and Asuntos Pendientes in 2002. Their music sometimes drew criticism for lyrics that touched on social issues, but they kept working as a trio with Garza handling most of the songwriting.
They collaborated with a few other artists, like the singer Chavela Vargas and the American band Yo La Tengo. Their later albums included Camino al Fuego in 2004 and Revancha in 2007.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
