10 Kingdoms formed in Minneapolis in the early 2000s around vocalist Shane Barnard and guitarist Matt Bonenfant, with Brian Ruud on bass and John Heppner on drums. Their self-titled debut came out in 2003, followed by 'The Cycle of Deception' in 2006. The band's third album, 'Queen of Fear' from 2009, included the song 'Chains of Despair,' which became one of their most recognized tracks.
Drummer John Heppner left in 2010 and was replaced by Tim Johnston. The band continued releasing albums like 'The Bell That Never Rang' in 2012 and 'The Great American Murder' in 2016. Other songs in their catalog include 'Chant of Scorn,' 'Desire Is Pain,' and 'Treachery Most Foul.'
In 2013, Shane Barnard faced criticism for comments about Islam that led to some show cancellations. He later apologized, calling the remarks unacceptable. The band put out 'Your Blood, My Throne' in 2019.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
