10 Second Drop formed in Chicago in 2001 with Matt Barnes on vocals, Chris Bard and Paul Williams on guitars, Eric Rowe on bass, and Matt Payne on drums. They put out their debut album 'Always the Victim' in 2003, which included the title track and songs like 'Bitter Again' and 'No Direction.'
Their sound leaned into heavy guitars and drums with lyrics that often dealt with anger and alienation. They released two more albums, 'Face Down' in 2005 and 'The Way It Is' in 2007, before disbanding in 2009.
Some members struggled with substance abuse during the band's run, which occasionally affected their live shows and recording sessions. Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being too aggressive or harsh.
After 10 Second Drop ended, the members moved on to other projects both in and out of music. Their records from the 2000s still turn up for listeners who connected with that particular strain of nu-metal.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
