Archive material and source history
10 Sugar Charlie was a San Francisco quartet that put out three albums in the 1990s. The band featured Dave Fischer on vocals and guitar, John Borger on bass, Chris Schmerr on guitar, and Mike Caskey on drums. Their debut, 'Get Off My Cloud,' came out in 1994 and included the track 'Candy Fingers.'
That song, 'Candy Fingers,' became their calling card. The band followed it with 'Rewind' in 1996 and 'Dizzy' in 1999.
They took a break toward the end of the decade. While their sound mixed rock with funk and soul influences, it sometimes drew criticism for being too commercial or hard to pin down. The quartet eventually dissolved, but 'Candy Fingers' stuck around as a familiar song from that era.
