100 Proof (Aged In Soul) formed in the early 2000s with Anthony "Twank" Dopsie Jr. on vocals and trombone, Alfred "Lil Freddie" Boutté on bass, John Fohl on guitar, and Gregory "G-Funk" Atwater on drums. They came from New Orleans, where Dopsie's family had musical roots. Their debut album "Everything Good Is Bad" came out in 2010, with the title track becoming a notable song for them.
They put out several albums after that, including "The Healer" in 2013, "The Divine Miss B" in 2016, and "Homage" in 2018. Other songs like "One Man's Leftovers (Is Another Man's Feast)" and "Somebodys Been Sleeping" show up in their catalog. In 2015, Dopsie had a drug possession arrest that led to a brief break for the band.
Their music pulled from funk, blues, and soul, with influences mentioned like James Brown, Otis Redding, and Muddy Waters. They kept playing and recording through the 2010s, working with the same core lineup.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
