100 Talento formed in Lisbon in the early 1990s as a rap collective. The group included Pedro "Trincheiras" Pimentel, António "Macaco" Cruz, and Jorge "Jeff Brown" Costa. They released six studio albums between 1993 and 2006, starting with their self-titled debut.
In 1994, their song "AK47" sparked debate over its lyrics. Another track, "Te Amo," appears among their notable songs.
While their work blended rap with funk and Portuguese melodic elements, it was their direct approach to subjects like poverty and police treatment that connected with listeners at the time. The group hasn't been active in recent years, but those early albums still surface in conversations about Portuguese rap's development.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
