111 Volts formed in Brazil in 1987 with Bil on vocals and guitar, André on bass, and Armandinho on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year, and the single 'Pensando em você' became a hit. The band's lyrics often dealt with social issues, which brought them both attention and criticism.

Armandinho left in 1992 and was replaced by Beto on drums. The group kept recording through the '90s, putting out albums like 'Distância' in 1994 and 'Rock N' Roll' in 1998. Another of their well-known songs is 'Tive um sonho'.
