118 Project formed in Tokyo around 2005, led by vocalist Kiyo and guitarist Riku. Their debut single, '118,' came out that same year and became their breakout track. The band's lineup also included bassist Jun and drummer Kenji.
Their music often addressed social and political themes, which sometimes drew criticism. One song, 'Hoshi no Mamono,' was a ballad about children in conflict zones that sparked debate about art's role in society.
They released several albums including 'Synchronicity,' 'Repure,' and 'Eight.' These records showed the band working across rock, pop, and electronic styles without settling into one fixed sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
