12 Gauge came out of Pittsburgh in the early 1980s playing a heavy, rough-edged mix of metal and punk. Their song 'Dunkie Butt' became something of a rowdy anthem for a certain crowd, and they built a reputation for loud, chaotic live shows.
Steve Albini was the frontman, with Horacio 'Flaco' Garza on bass and Mark Deutrom on drums. They put out a few albums in the mid-to-late '80s, including 'Dunkie Butt' in 1984 and 'Slaughterhouse' in 1986. The band broke up around 1990, and Albini later became better known as a producer and engineer for other artists.
