12 Kokki formed in 1999 around vocalist Mizuki Nana, guitarist Yuki Hino, and bassist Shinya Takizawa. Their debut album 'Twilight' came out in 2000, followed by 'Dark Side of the Moon' in 2002. That second album included 'Getsumei Fuuei,' which became their most recognizable song.
'Getsumei Fuuei' drew attention for its lyrics about isolation and human relationships. In 2003, the song was mentioned in connection with a criminal case, which led to public debate about the band's work. 12 Kokki released four more studio albums between 2004 and 2013: 'Requiem,' 'Elysium,' 'Convergence,' and 'Archetype.'
The band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2014. Other songs in their catalog include 'Juuni Genmu Kyoku ~ Kogetsu Souya' and 'Shihouka.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
