13 Stories came together in Manchester in the early 2000s, with Iain Reynolds on vocals and keyboards, Dave Francolini on guitar, Paul Mallinson on bass, and Andrew Roberts on drums. They put out their first album, "This Time Next Year," in 2005. The single "Beep Beep" from that record caught on in a big way, with its simple synth hook and steady beat.
After "Beep Beep" took off, Francolini and Roberts left the band. Reynolds and Mallinson kept going as a duo, releasing two more albums: "Once More with Feeling" in 2007 and "A Cinematic View" in 2012. The group called it quits in 2014.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
