14 Km started in the early 2000s in Juazeiro do Norte, a city in Brazil. The band's name comes from the distance between their hometown and the state capital. They put out their first album, 'Devaneando,' in 2005. A few years later, in 2009, guitarist André Lima and drummer Gledson Meira left the group, which led to some changes in how they played together.
Their music mixes pop, rock, and MPB, with songs like 'Algumas Vezes' and 'Eu Sei' showing their knack for melodies and harmonies. Over time, they've added bits of electronic and world music into their sound. They've released several albums since that first one, including 'Entre o Céu e o Mar' in 2007 and 'Infinito' in 2018.
In 2012, there was a bit of a stir when someone claimed 'Algumas Vezes' was plagiarized, but that didn't stick. These days, the band includes Manu Gavassi on vocals, Luís Felipe on guitar, Rafael Castro on bass, and Leonardo Reis on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
