14 Stories came out of London playing alternative rock. Their debut album was called 'The Day Is MY Enemy.' They had a song called 'Hear Me Out' that got some attention for its direct lyrics. The band included Dan Smith on vocals, Will Squier on guitar, Tom Stewart on bass, and Adam Murphy on drums.
They put out more albums after that first one, including 'Revelations' and 'Avalanche.' Their music had an energetic quality, with Smith's writing at the center. They built a following with people who responded to that straightforward approach.
There was some talk about their sound early on, but they kept working. They didn't really fit a neat category, which was part of what drew listeners in. The records show a band figuring things out as they went along.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
