Ettins

So many times have we fallen to the ettin self-doubt

And, silently, we suffer the soul-breaking drought

Another day gone

To face another grey dawn

So many times have we fallen to the ettin self-deceit

Avoiding truth in our hearts

Crawling the road of complacency

But when winter makes haste

We will steel ourselves to its gaze

We will hunt our fears and run them from this place

And ettins will crumble before our golden age

Wool over wolves’ eyes

We stumble through the night

As prey of the giants in our minds

Beyond our sense of guile

The unchecked force of nature

Thriving in the wild

So many times have I fallen to the ettin self-loathe

Crushed below the weight of judgement’s stone
