15Mil Volts formed in 1996 around vocalist and guitarist Marcelo Nova, with guitarist Fausto Fawcett, bassist Eduardo Ardanuy, and drummer Alexandre Marcondes. They released their self-titled debut that same year, followed by albums in 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2007.
Their 2001 song "Me Tire da Escuridão" became their most recognized track. The band's music sometimes drew criticism for challenging social norms, with songs like "Não Quero Dinheiro" addressing materialism.
They blended rock, blues, and Brazilian rhythms across their five albums. Nova's expressive vocals were a central feature of their sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
