16 Down came out of Toronto in the early 2000s with a sound that mixed alternative rock and pop punk. Their debut album 'Move On' arrived in 2004, followed by a self-titled record in 2006 that included 'Blue Jays,' a song that became associated with the Toronto baseball team. They put out two more albums, 'In Preparation for the Coming Darkness' in 2008 and 'Young & Nervous' in 2011, before going on hiatus the following year.
The band's lineup featured Dave Baksh on lead guitar and vocals, Matt Walst on rhythm guitar and vocals, Chris Walst on bass, and Chad Kroeger on drums. Their catalog includes tracks like 'Gimme some,' 'Heaven Still Cries,' and 'Subtle Movements.'
In 2006, 16 Down faced plagiarism allegations over 'Blue Jays,' which they denied. The song remained a fixture at Blue Jays games for a while. After their hiatus, the members worked on other projects.
