180 Graus formed in Santos in 1997 with Leonardo Wallauer on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Maciel on bass, and André "Du" Gomes on drums. They put out their first album, "Autoproclamação," in 2000.
Their music, grounded in Brazilian rock, often dealt directly with social and political themes like poverty and police violence. This approach resonated with some listeners but also led to friction, including a reported ban from a festival in 2001. They followed their debut with albums like "Dezoito Vinte" in 2002 and "Diário de Bordo" in 2005.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
