1879 formed in Mexico City in 1998 with Daniel Gutiérrez on vocals and guitar, Alejandro Serrano on bass, and Christian Sánchez on drums. They started playing local bars and eventually signed with the independent label Discos Intolerancia in 2002. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year.
Their fourth album, 'Brebaje Infernal' from 2011, gave them their title track and a bit more attention. That song, along with others like 'Caidos En El Desierto' and 'El Llamado de La Guerra', shows their mix of dark folk and psychedelic rock. Gutiérrez has been the constant member through lineup changes, with Serrano staying on bass and Ricardo Sandoval joining on drums later.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
