1988 formed in Porto Alegre in 1985, with Marcelo Camelo on vocals and guitar, Lulu Santos on bass, and Rodrigo Amarante on piano and vocals. They released their first album, also called '1988,' that same year. Their sound was hard to pin down, mixing rock and folk with something more experimental.
Their song 'Chaponega' became their most recognizable track. In 1994, they put out 'Os Outros,' an album that got some attention for its cover art but was also well-received. They kept recording into the 2000s, with albums like 'Vinte e Quatro Anos' in 2005 and another self-titled record in 2014.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
