2 de Paus formed in 1997 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, with childhood friends Rodrigo Tavares on vocals and guitar and Luciano Klein on vocals and bass. They released their first album in 2000, followed by five more studio records over the next two decades, including 'A História do Homem que Não Tinha Nada' in 2004 and 'Pela Estrada' in 2018.
Their song 'Sonho' became particularly well-known, though in 2015 it faced plagiarism allegations that were eventually dismissed. The duo's music tends toward folk and rock with some electronic touches, often with introspective lyrics.
They've maintained a steady output without much mainstream commercial push, working mostly within Brazil's independent music circles. Their later albums like 'A Casa' from 2014 continued in a similar vein to their earlier work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
