2 HDB Straight Edge Partie formed in Berlin in 1984, part of the straight edge movement that rejected drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. They released their debut album 'Wir Sind Nicht Mehr' on their own independent label after facing resistance from the music industry. Their music had a raw intensity, drawing from punk and heavy metal with distorted guitars and pounding drums.
Their song 'Da Blade Kräuter' became a cult anthem, though its explicit lyrics about violence and addiction drew criticism from some quarters. The band's lyrics often dealt with social injustice, political corruption, and the struggles of marginalized youth.
The group included Stefan 'Steffo' Ebert on vocals, Thomas 'Tommy' Gehlsen on guitar, Andreas 'Andi' Silitz on bass, and Frank 'Franky' Kupfernagel on drums. They released several albums through the late 1980s and early 1990s, including '2 HDB' in 1986 and 'Im Schatten Der Macht' in 1989.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
