2 Headed Chang formed in the early 2000s around guitarist and vocalist Chad Chang, who had previously been in the hardcore group Latterman, and drummer Jared Chang. Their music was abrasive and confrontational from the start, with live shows that earned them a reputation for intensity. The band's debut album came out in 2005, titled "Fuck Your Core," which included a track of the same name that became something of an underground anthem.
Over the next several years, they put out records like "Surrender Your Thumb" in 2007, "Buckle Up, It's Fucked" in 2009, and "Swarm" in 2012. While their sound sometimes incorporated elements of grindcore and noise, it stayed rooted in a raw, aggressive approach. The core duo worked with various other musicians at different points, including bassist Mike Tuccillo and guitarist Steve Donofrio.
Their lyrics and album titles often drew attention, with "Fuck Your Core" facing some store bans due to its language. The band maintained a deliberately confrontational stance through their music and performances, appealing to listeners who wanted something outside mainstream hardcore conventions.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
