2 Minutos formed in Buenos Aires in 1991 with Walter "Mosca" Velázquez on vocals, Alejandro "Pachu" Pereira on bass, Marcelo "Pablo" Pantano on guitar, and Daniel "Pajarito" Gorosito on drums. They started playing small venues around the city, working with a raw punk sound that felt immediate and direct. Their first album, "Valentín Alsina," came out in 1994 and included the song "Piso 22," which drew attention for its blunt lyrics about a man considering suicide.
That song became something of an anthem for some listeners, even as it brought the band criticism from people who thought it was irresponsible. They kept putting out records through the 1990s and early 2000s, like "El León" in 1996 and "Super 2 Minutos" in 2001. Over time, the lineup shifted some, but Mosca and Pachu have stayed at the center of the band.
In more recent years, Christian "Pity" Alvarez has played guitar and Emanuel "Manu" Martínez drums. Their sound has picked up some ska and reggae touches along the way, though it still carries that punk energy. Songs like "Ya No Sos Igual" and "A Veces" show the band working with a range of rhythms while keeping their voice straightforward and grounded.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
