2 Shy was a British pop group that formed in London in 1988. The band included vocalist Carol Decker, keyboardist Nick Jackson, guitarist Paul Woods, bassist Tony Swain, and drummer Steve Grantley. They had their biggest success with the 1996 single "Hands in the Air," which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.
Their debut album "2 Shy" came out the same year, followed by "Heaven" in 1997. The group's sound mixed dance-pop with soul elements, heard on tracks like "You Give Me All I Need." They faced various internal conflicts and legal issues with their record label, which contributed to their eventual dissolution.
While their time as a band was relatively brief, "Hands in the Air" remained a recognizable track in British pop from that period. The song's catchy melody and celebratory feel kept it in rotation on radio and at events long after the group had stopped recording together.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
