2 Ton Predator formed in 2009 and had to find a new vocalist early on when their original singer left after recording the debut. They brought in Shane Thomas, whose vocals became a central part of their sound. The band's first album was called 'A Big Bastard of a Bad Day,' which includes tracks like 'Bone Brigade' and 'Butcher's Bill.'
Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being too raw or confrontational, but they didn't really dial it back. The music kept a heavy, aggressive style through later albums like 'The Horns of Doom' and 'Blood Moon Rising.' Songs such as 'Demon Dealer' and 'Diabolic' give a fair sense of what they were going for.
The lineup settled with Shane Thomas on vocals, Matt Hatmaker on guitar, Dave Butcher on bass, and Kyle LaBelle on drums. They weren't trying to reinvent metal, just play it loud and mean. If you listen to 'A Funeral Romance' or 'Closet Guy,' you get the idea, it's straightforward, heavy stuff without much polish.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
