200 North formed in New York City in 1998, taking their name from the address of their rehearsal space. The original lineup included Aaron West on vocals, Eddie Nappi on guitar, Scott Schoenbrun on bass, and Nick Cinninger on drums. They released their debut album 'Attica' in 2000, with the title track becoming one of their most recognized songs.
Their music drew from hardcore, punk, and metal, with lyrics that often tackled difficult subjects. Other songs like 'Barely Breathing' and 'Dead London' continued in this confrontational vein.
After releasing several albums including 'Tangent' in 2002 and 'Trance' in 2005, the band underwent changes. Eddie Nappi left in 2005 and was replaced by Jonathon Davis. They continued recording through the late 2000s with albums like 'Broken Mirror' and 'Disconnection' before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2009.
Though their active period was relatively brief, 200 North developed a dedicated following drawn to their raw, uncompromising approach. Songs like 'Next Big Thing' and 'Sticks And Stones' captured the intensity that defined their sound during those New York years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
