The Venezuelan band 2001 formed in Caracas in the early 2000s with a lineup that included Ignacio 'Nacho' Mendoza on vocals and guitar, Miguel Ignacio 'Miguelito' Mendoza on vocals and percussion, Juan Miguel 'Juanmi' Márquez on guitar, Luis Miguel 'Luigi' Castillo on bass, and Arnoldo Landaeta on drums. They put out their self-titled debut album in 2002.
Their 2003 single 'Yo No Quiero' became a regional hit, and they followed it with albums like 'La Casa de Mickey Mouse' in 2004 and 'Pídeme' in 2005. The band's sound mixed pop, rock, and tropical rhythms in a way that caught on with younger audiences, though some critics found it too commercial at the time.
2001 released several more records through the late 2000s and early 2010s, including 'Nuevo Comienzo' in 2009 and 'Evolución' in 2011. Their music got regular airplay across Latin America and found listeners in Europe as well.
