200sachen started as a duo in Cologne in the early 2000s, with Klemens 'Knacki' Schmahl and Malte 'Mütze' Hentschel. Their 2001 single '200 Sachen' became a dance floor hit, giving the band its name and a quick entry into German electronic music. Hentschel left in 2006, and Schmahl continued as the frontman.
Their songs like 'Freier Fall' and 'Sekt Zum Frühstück' kept a high-energy, straightforward dance sound. The band released albums through the 2000s and 2010s, including 'Tanzlokal' in 2007 and 'Wieder am Start' in 2017.
In 2013, a promotional video using a swastika symbol drew criticism and led to some concert cancellations. The band said it was meant as a historical reference. They've played with a lineup that included guitarist Frank M. Markowski, bassist Benjamin 'Benni' Peters, and drummer Daniel 'Danny' Lucius.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
