The band 2112 formed in Toronto in 1968 with Alex Lifeson on guitar, Geddy Lee on bass and vocals, and John Rutsey on drums. Their debut album came out in 1975 and included the single 'Have You Seen My Little Dog?', which got some radio play in the UK. Rutsey left in 1974 and was replaced by drummer Neil Peart.
Their 1976 album '2112' and later records like 'A Farewell to Kings' and 'Moving Pictures' showed them working through different approaches, from prog rock to harder-edged material. The 1984 album 'Grace Under Pressure' touched on political themes that drew mixed reactions at the time.
They were nominated for a few Grammys and were eventually inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Producer Terry Brown worked with them on several albums.
