25 Andar formed in 1998 in São Paulo with Nando Reis and Paulo Ricardo at the center. Their song 'Brasil' became widely known, though it drew some criticism for how it addressed the country's political history. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2002, followed by records like 'Origens' in 2004 and 'Plugado' in 2005. Other songs like 'Garota Da Asa Sul' and 'Sprite No Cabelo' also found an audience.
Over time, the lineup included musicians like Liminha on bass and Beto Lee on drums. They kept recording and playing live, putting out 'Ao Vivo no Rio' in 2006 and a compilation called '10 Anos' in 2008. The music often mixed Reis's more reflective writing with Ricardo's energetic guitar work.
While their catalog isn't huge, songs like 'Brasil' and 'Minha Playboy' have stayed in rotation for some listeners. The band's output from those years still surfaces now and then, a reminder of that particular moment in Brazilian music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
