2frères are brothers Jean-Louis and Éric Fortin from Saint-Félicien, Québec. They started playing music together as kids, drawing on folk traditions and songwriters like Jacques Brel and Bob Dylan. Their first album came out in 2013, titled 'Nous Autres' after the song that became their early signature track.
That debut record mixed folk with pop and country touches, built around Jean-Louis's lyrics and Éric's harmonies and arrangements. They've put out several albums since, including La Route in 2016, Sous le même ciel in 2018, and Au-delà du bleu in 2021. Other songs like '33 Tours' and 'Maudite Promesse' have stayed in their setlists.
In 2015 they faced criticism over a video where they wore traditional Indigenous headdresses, which led to an apology. They've kept recording and touring in the years since, playing mostly across French Canada.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
