A Brazilian band whose long-titled songs mixed social critique with personal dread.
For a quick sense of them, try 'Narrando a Ansiedade Alheia' or 'Me Sinto Um Repolho'. The titles tell you a lot.
They came out of São Paulo in the late 2000s with a sound that was just loud and direct. Songs like 'Carrinho de Pipoca' and 'Narrando a Ansiedade Alheia' dealt with social issues and personal anxiety, which connected with some listeners and drew criticism from others. Their lyrics weren't subtle, but they weren't trying to be.
Their first album, 'Só Divirto Hienas (o Palhaço)', arrived in 2009. They kept putting out records like 'O Silêncio das Sirenes' and 'Molotov 45' through the next decade, playing their last show around 2017 with the album 'O Último Ato'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
