2P1 was a Brazilian pop band formed in 1999 by Max Porto, Pericles Cavalcanti, and Ivan Costa. Their debut single "Ele É a Razão" became a chart-topping hit in the early 2000s, establishing them quickly. The band released five studio albums during their active years, including "Estrelas do Mar" and a live album recorded for MTV.
Ivan Costa left the group in 2005 due to creative differences, with Porto and Cavalcanti continuing as a duo. The band faced accusations of plagiarism during their career, which they consistently denied. They disbanded in 2012 after more than a decade of activity.
Songs like "Melhor Amigo" and "Ouvi Seu Clamor" joined "Ele É a Razão" as some of their most recognizable tracks. Their music blended pop with rock and R&B elements, finding particular resonance with Brazilian audiences in the 2000s.
