2TIOS is a Brazilian hip-hop duo from São Paulo, made up of Thiago dos Santos (who goes by Nego) and Rodrigo Silva (Yock). They started putting out music in the early 2000s, with their debut album 'Ampla Visão' giving the group its name. Nego handles most of the writing and vocals, while Yock produces the beats.
Their songs tend to focus on inequality and life in marginalized communities, delivered with straightforward, sometimes blunt lyrics over energetic tracks. You can hear this on songs like 'Fúria Verde' and 'Sem Perder a Calma.' They've released other albums after that first one, including 'Nação Hip Hop' and 'Chegou a Hora.'
Some of their material has drawn criticism for being too explicit, and they've faced pushback at times for speaking directly about social issues. But they've kept at it, and their music has found an audience in Brazil and elsewhere.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
