2vidas do Rap is a Brazilian hip-hop duo from the Morumbi neighborhood of São Paulo, formed in the early 2000s. The group consists of two MCs: André "Dedé" Luiz and Edson "Sombra" Lopes. Their debut album, "Nosso Som," came out in 2004.
Their music often deals with themes of poverty and social inequality, set against traditional hip-hop beats mixed with samba and funk. The track "Sonhos" became particularly well-known for its focus on these subjects.
In 2016, the duo was detained for questioning after performing "Sonhos" at a protest against violence in the favelas. Their lyrics have drawn criticism from conservative groups for addressing police brutality and government failures.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
