3-1 Só formed in Salvador, Bahia in the mid-1990s with Alexandre "Salufo" Ribeiro on vocals, Willdson "Dão" Almeida on bass, and Rodolfo "Rudy" Silva on guitar. Their 1998 single "Jóia Rara" became a national hit in Brazil, mixing samba, reggae, and hip-hop rhythms that connected with audiences.
The band released albums like "3-1 Só" in 1998, "Até o Último Gosto" in 2001, and "4 Vidas" in 2006. They worked with artists including Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben Jor, and Ivete Sangalo. Other songs like "Capa de Pistola" and "A Quebrada É o Fervo" continued their blend of Brazilian styles.
Lineup changes occurred over time. Dão Almeida left in 2006, replaced by Rodrigo "Digão" Almeida. Rudy Silva departed in 2014, leaving Salufo as the only original member. The band faced criticism about sampling and originality during their career, though they kept performing.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
