3 Some was a trio formed in 1993 by David Borden, Jeremy Barnes, and Mark Clifford. Their music worked in ambient electronic territory, with Borden coming from avant-garde classical, Barnes handling sound design, and Clifford adding guitar and engineering. They released their self-titled debut album in 1995.

The group's 1997 album 'Listening for the Weather' gave them their most recognizable track. That song, along with others like 'Beautiful Collision' and 'Get Some Sleep,' defined their sound for many listeners. They followed it with 'The Nightland' in 2000 and 'The Fragrant Hour' in 2003, which was their last album.
