30 Abaixo de Zero formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1987, started by brothers Adão and Rubens Rabello. They've put out records since the mid-90s, with albums like '30 Abaixo de Zero' in 1996 and 'Felizes para Sempre' in 2019. The band's lineup has included Fernanda Takai on vocals since 1999, Marcelo Gross on drums since 2004, and Serginho Silva on keyboards since 2001, with the Rabello brothers at the center.
Their songs include 'Simple Things,' 'Give Me A Hug,' and 'Aula de Física.' They've played shows in Portugal, Spain, and the United States. The music draws from punk energy and folk introspection, though some critics have called it too commercial or taken issue with political lyrics.
They kept making music through the 2000s and 2010s, releasing records like 'O Toque' in 2004 and 'A Cabeça de Outro' in 2013. Other songs in their catalog are 'As Vezes,' 'Censura,' and 'Me Deixe Sonhar.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
