30Y formed in Budapest in 1999, with Bence Békéscsaba as the frontman. The original lineup included Gergő Kiss on guitar, Zoltán Lantos on bass, and András Tóth on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 2004.
Their song "Szeretni Akart" became particularly well-known. Other tracks like "Ahogy Elképzeltem" and "Fürdőzők a Balatonnál" also appear among their most popular work. The band's drummer changed in 2013, with Balázs Joó replacing András Tóth.
In 2007, there was a legal dispute concerning the melody of "Szeretni Akart." The band has worked with other Hungarian artists, including folk singer Éva Ferenc and rapper Krúbi.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
