31 FAM formed in the early 2000s in Havana's 31st district, which is where their name comes from. The original lineup included vocalist Osmani Espinosa, guitarist William Alberto, bassist Yenier Luis, and drummer Alejandro Rosales. They later added keyboardist Eliecer 'El Elio' Viera.
Their 2013 single 'Balada 17' became a hit in Cuba and gained attention internationally. They've released albums including '31 FAM' in 2014, 'Regreso' in 2016, and 'Плюс Минус' in 2019.
Some of their other songs like 'Rip Hoe' and 'A Letter 2 Grandma' show the range of their material, from harder-edged tracks to more personal writing. They've worked with Cuban artists including Descemer Bueno, El Micha, and Gente de Zona. Their live shows developed a reputation for energy, though their lyrics have sometimes drawn criticism for explicit content.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
