The Russian rock band 3,14 formed in Moscow in 1989. Their lineup included Georgy Kasparyan on vocals, Sergei Trofimov on guitar, Yuri Menkeer on bass, and Alexander Vasiliev on drums. Their debut album, 'Блажь,' came out in 1991, with the title track becoming a notable song for them. They followed it with albums like 'Камни' in 1993, 'Наваждение' in 1995, and 'Декамерон' in 1999, which was based on Boccaccio's work. The band broke up in 2000.
Their music pulled from rock, folk, and ambient sounds, with lyrics often touching on themes like love and loss. Other songs in their catalog include 'Избавление,' 'Переоценка Ценностей,' and 'Человеческий Фактор.'
While their work was sometimes called experimental, the song 'Блажь' found a particular audience. Its lyrics, which mention running through rain and flying on the wind, seemed to connect with listeners looking for something beyond the everyday. The band's recordings from that 1990s period still get played by fans of that era of Russian rock.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
