33 Days formed in Southern California in 1999 with Rodrigo López on vocals, Enrique Iglesias on guitar, Matt Squire on bass, and Josh Freese on drums. Their name came from the time it took López to recover from a serious motorcycle accident. They released their debut album 'Immortal' in 2002, which included the song 'Breathe' that became their most recognized track.
The band's music drew from alternative rock and melodic hardcore, with López's vocals and Iglesias's guitar work as central elements. They put out three more albums after 'Immortal': 'Friday the 13th' in 2005, 'Day of the Dead' in 2008, and 'Hell on Earth' in 2016. Other songs like 'Flow', 'Fuel', and 'Pray For Rain' show their range from driving rock to more reflective material.
They faced some difficulties along the way, including López's substance abuse issues that led to a break in 2004 and disagreements with their record label. The lineup stayed mostly consistent with those four original members through their recording years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
