38 Mil Manos formed in Salvador, Brazil around 2012, a collective of musicians drawn together by funk and soul rhythms. They took their name from the idea of many hands working together. Their debut album 'Volume 1' came out in 2014, mixing funk grooves with samba rhythms and soulful melodies.
In 2017, they released 'Soul Marginal PT. 2' featuring rapper Jamés Ventura, a track that became particularly resonant. Other songs like '3.8,' 'Então Gambé,' and 'Justiça' show their range across their catalog. The group includes Jonga on vocals and guitar, Daniel Black on bass, Luciano Bahia on drums, Felipe Cordeiro on trumpet, and Ricardo Preto on saxophone.
They put out 'Volume III' in 2021, continuing with their blend of soul and funk while touching on reggae and Brazilian folk elements. Their lyrics often address social themes and everyday experience.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
