3a1 was a Brazilian trio from Rio de Janeiro that started making music together in the late 1990s. The group consisted of Alexandre Stancioli on vocals, Leandro Lehart handling composition and multiple instruments, and Sérgio Valle on percussion. They were childhood friends who shared an interest in Brazilian music traditions.
Their sound mixed samba with funk and hip-hop elements, which felt fresh at the time. Songs like "Apito Final" and "Guerra Particular" showed their approach, rhythmic but with room for lyrical reflection. Their debut album came out in 1998, followed by "Apito Final" in 2000 and "Deixa Ele Falar" in 2004.
By 2008 they had put out a career retrospective called "10 Anos." Their music had a straightforward, rhythmic quality that connected with listeners without needing much decoration.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
